Piccadilly Records opened in 1978 and thrived during the post-punk 80s. During those times, they sold a variety of rock, pop, independent, and alternative music. The current ownership took over Piccadilly Records and kept expanding on its existing standing as one of the best autonomous music stores in the world. The store moved to its present location on Northern Quarter's energetic street space in Manchester. As of late they have been nominated Best Indie Record Store at Music Week's grants and Best Record Store at Gilles Peterson's World Wide Awards.
