London Camera Exchange originated in the 1950s when the founder bought a studio in tongsgate, Gilford. The studio owner soon noticed that their customers were very interested in the equipment used in the studio and even sold some of the old ones. The business was born when customers began offering other cameras in partial exchange for newer or more expensive models. Today, it still occupies the same space as the original studio, but has grown to include 26 stores across England, from Plymouth in the southwest to Manchester in the northwest. It is still one of the largest family chain professional photography stores in the UK.
