The Colour Flooring Company was founded in 2010 by Lena Corner and Bill Tuckey, the two journalists who met while working at The Independent on Sunday. It started when Lena was renovating her house, but found it impossible to find cool, modern solid-color vinyl floors. All available styles seem to have retro color palettes and dated patterns. They decided to try to fill a gap in the market. They sourced a handful of contemporary colour blocks, set up a website and started selling in a chilly container in Tottenham. In 2014, they added ten custom colours to their range of rubber flooring. Then they came out with waterproof, sustainable Corka - a very clever material that has won awards for innovation.

The Colour Flooring Company offers three small samples for free, if customers want more samples (up to six) they will need to pay £3.99 postage and packaging. Additionally, large samples and samples of specific materials (such as Vinyl, Rubber, Corka, Parquet etc) are charged £4.99 each.
