Aquanauts was founded in 1986 as a BSAC club, founded by Douglas Allen, who was a senior diving instructor at the Fort Bovisand Underwater Center at the time. The club developed into a PADI training center operated from Doug's family, and his home became the most popular diving center in Plymouth.
